Fall 2012 Downtown Storefront
Artist Opportunity
CALL FOR ARTISTS: Public Art San Antonio (PASA), is working with local artist Cruz Ortiz to recruit a team of local artists and designers to create installations for “Cut and Paste,” a downtown storefront exhibition organized by the City of San Antonio’s Department for Culture and Creative Development (formerly the Office of Cultural Affairs). CUT AND PASTE will be on display beginning this fall and throughout the winter at selected vacant properties downtown. The online application deadline is Tuesday, October 16th at 5 pm.
Interested artists are being asked to explore the technical and creative possibilities of CUTTING AND PASTING. The series of artworks is intended to prompt dialogue surrounding Downtown San Antonio, and to activate underutilized downtown properties. Proposed artworks must be appropriate for public display. Each individual or team may submit up to three proposed installations. Applicants are asked to submit only a rendering and description of the proposed artwork and not an actual mock-up.

Materials
Proposals should illustrate CUT AND PASTE through the use of materials and design. Any combination of the following materials will be considered:
• plastics* (Up to six 4′x8′ corrugated plastic sheets provided by PASA to selected artworks)
• fabric
• wheat pasted graphics
• adhesive graphics (such as vinyl/tape)
• other applied graphics (re-used signage, posters, or non-precious found 2-D materials)
